Eminem says: Look.. if you had one shot, or one opportunity, to seize everything you ever wanted... in one moment, would you capture it.. or just let it slip?
I think Eminem poignantly describes the desire that must be inside every entrepreneur in his song Lose Youself. I would bet anyone that has tried to start a business, successfully created a business, or has failed one or more times can relate to this song. We may not all put ourselves in the situation where success is our only option, but many of us do.
The question is one of belief, of conviction, or perhaps insanity to those around us. As Eminem says, "Lonely roads, God only knows." How many entrepreneurs working late nights, weekends, around the clock for weeks, or years do so because they believe this is their one shot, their one opportunity to seize their dreams?
Free Divers that have dove deep on a single breath or air, spearfishermen that have wrestled with a speared fish that had the capacity to drown them, Surfers that have pulled into a double overhead barrel on a gnarly low tide reef, or stand up paddlers that have been far away from land in the open ocean on a 11" foot paddle board know the feeling too.
"Success is my only Mother F***** option, failures not... here I go it's my shot, feet fail me not. This may be the only opportunity that I got... You can do anything you set your mind to man."
Whether you're an aspiring rapper in the rough and tumble neigborhoods of Detroit, or an entrepreneur with a desire to help the world with your ideas, why not follow your dreams?
My dream is to integrate my life's ocean pursuits into a business that can feed my family, to help heal and protect and heal Mother Ocean, to set an example for my children that pursing ones dreams is the key to happiness. I may fail, but right now I feel success is my only Mother F***** option, and for some reason it feels like it supposed to be this way.
